Profile Bio

I live on the outskirts of Nottingham. After working in the commercial sector, I took an acting course
and became a television extra, also referred to as "background, walk-on or supporting artists".
I first started with amateur dramatics over 25 years ago with Carlton Operatic Society and
Nottingham Operatic Society performing at both the Nottingham Playhouse and The Theatre Royal.
I have been a a television and film extra for 20 years and have encountered some very interesting and strange people.
I talk about the rules and regulations, the pitfalls, the jargon, the pay and my experiences.
I use a multi-media projector, lap-top and screen, all of which I will provide.
The talk lasts for 1 hour.

Talk Description

My Extra Life

Whether it's a television studio or film location, "on set" is an exciting place to be.
Being a supporting artist (the official name for an extra) is an interesting life, with no two days
being the same.
They can be long days with lot's of waiting around, sometimes in tough conditions on location.
It provides a modest income, some great adventures and some wonderful stories.
